Playing high school sports takes dedication, scheduling, and perseverance. Some teens just don’t have the discipline to be able to participate on the court and keep high grades in the classroom. As grades are most important, these students are unable to participate in extracurricular activities. Sports, namely basketball, are a large part of living a well rounded life, but how is one to become a great high school basketball player?
Balance is the key to keeping your stress levels low. Becoming too stressed about your schoolwork or about performing perfectly on the court can cause issues in all areas of your life. Stress can interfere with your normal sleep schedule. Not sleeping well enough will have negative effects on your day such as not having enough energy to fully participate in basketball practice or falling asleep in class. If you do become too stressed, take a time out. Step back and take a look at your whole life. Take a deep breath, and then step back in. Be sure to make time for yourself to relax. If you are going all the time, you’ll become weary of everything. If you need help, don’t be afraid to ask. Your friends and family will be more than happy to help.
